Whipped Shea butter [ How To ]

Hey!!

Here it is. I bought some shea butter, cut it into cubes and kept it at room temperature so it would be soft enough to blend.

1. A tablespoon or MORE of these oils, Grape seed oil, peppermint oil, castor oil, safflower seed oil, Jojoba oil, rosemary oil, and glycerin.

2. Mix with a hand blender at room temperature.

3. As you can see, I didn't need that much shea butter to get almost a full container.

Cut up the Shea butter

All done(best thing about this blender, is you don't have to transfer anything  to another container.
Much needed rubber spoon
From start.

Articles I Find Interesting

I did not write this article but I love sharing :)

Myth 15: Applying mayonnaise to your hair will make it glossier.

Mayo is made with an oil base, and it makes hair shine. But to avoid a mess, try this method:
- Apply a cup of mayonnaise mixed with a teaspoon of vanilla extract (to cut the mayonnaise scent) to dry, unwashed hair.
- Cover your head with a warm towel to help the mayonnaise penetrate, and leave it on for 20 minutes.
- Before you step into the shower, apply a heaping handful of shampoo to your hair. Don't add any water yet; just massage it in thoroughly for several minutes. That will help break down the excess oil, says Berkovitz.
- Rinse with cool water in the shower and your hair will come out shiny and silky.
If the idea of putting a condiment in your hair makes you queasy, try a rich glossing treatment, such as Phytonectar Ultra-Nourishing Oil Treatment ($30, drugstore.com), which contains egg and rich oils, the basic ingredients in mayonnaise.

The only thing I would add to this is to add some essential oils(Example:peppermint oil, rosemary oil, tea tree oil), and non essential oils(example: grape seed oil, olive oil, coconut oil, castor oil), and cover everything with shower cap to avoid a messy towel.

BH Cosmetics

I ordered some things from BH cosmetics, the delivery came in less than a week of me ordering it.  The packaging was amazing and nothing was broken.   I was a little worried about the concealer and brushes I bought because they were so cheap!!! Like super cheap.  I have MAC brushes I have paid over $30 for, so I know a quantity makeup brush when I see it.  Anyways I love the concealer palette but I only use three of the colors at the moment and I am not sure what to do with the rest.  At first it had a kind of chalky smell but it went away.  I love the brushes and did not except the fan brush would be this big.   The brushes are soft and pick up the makeup well.

Everything cost less than $40.

White Shea Butter vs Yellow Shea Butter

It is amazing what you find with a little reading.. So the problem is which one is "actual" shea butter... According to my research, yellow "shea butter" is from Togo, from the African Butter Tree (Pentadesma butyracea), correct name Kpangnan butter. White or Ivory shea butter, is the real shea butter(Butyrospermum parkii), the kind that has all the properties with the most benefits. While the yellow shea butter I purchased works wonders, I can't help to think what the white one does, definitely ordering some soon. Don't be quick to throw your old yellow Shea butter out, because it may just be dyed yellow.

New Growth and Hair Typing

Hooray for new Growth!!! I think I need to add I didn't start seeing this until 6 to 8 months of being relaxer free.  It seems like a long process but hang in there.   I really can't start hair typing officially until I cut all my relaxed ends off. I know that the back of my hair is 3c ish, and the rest of my hair looks 4a, 4b, 4c ish.  What I like about my hair is that even though its tightly coiled its very manageable. If I do a braid out, it stays stretched the way it's suppose to.

Avocado Hair Mask

My first attempt making a avocado mask.  I used two avocados, grapeseed oil, peppermint oil, jojoba oil, olive oil and castor oil.  I did not see much of a change or improvement in my hair after.   It was really messy and a waste of my oils. I think it's better just to get the avocado oil in the bottle.  It's not something I would do again but I love trying new things so I have no regrets about it.   What do you think? Have you tired this?

When my hair was Relaxed

I didn't have any serious issues with my relaxed hair.  It just wasn't full enough for me.  To me it seemed healthly considering the fact that I never knew how to take care of my hair.  I wore weaves 100% of the time, and only saw my hair when it was time to get a new perm.  Also the way my hair was getting relaxed was very damaging, which would explain the reason why I thought my hair wasn't full enough... I was losing to much hair during the process. Ever time I got a perm, I would put the perm on ALL of my hair, not just the root like you are suppose to, thinking that's how you get it bone straight.   It was when I had my first Dominican blow out(2nc pic), when I realized my hair was way to thin.  I wanted the fullness of natural hair.

The Good The Bad The Ugly

Transitioning to Natural Hair!!!
It's not an easy task to change your physical apperenace.   Especially if you have been use to a certain look all your life.  A lot of people around you may not support your decision to go natural, mainly because they have never been exposed to people who knew how to do it right.   All that has changed now thanks to the new natural movement. There is defiantly more support everywhere you turn.   Maybe you are reading this because you don't want to do a big chop, neither did I ! Until I did more research I wasn't aware that there were other options.  I thought when you decide to go natural you just cut off your hair and rock short hair do's.   Short hair do's not for you? Then maybe you should consider long term transtioning.  I am here to share my experiences and mistakes with you all.  Please comment and stay posted on new post coming soon.   You can long term transition the right way.
